Poultry Equipment Manufacturers in UK: Buyer’s Guide 2026

When buyers start looking for poultry equipment manufacturers in UK, one thing becomes clear quite quickly: not every company in the market is actually a manufacturer.

Some make equipment in Britain. Some distribute European brands. Others are mainly engineering companies, combining ventilation, feeding, drinking and control equipment from different suppliers.

That does not automatically make one better than another.

For a farm owner, the more useful question is whether the supplier can handle the type of poultry house you are actually building.

A new broiler farm, a free-range layer house and an old poultry shed that needs upgrading are three very different projects. They should not start with the same equipment list.

Start With the Farm Before Comparing Suppliers

Before contacting suppliers, I would first confirm a few basic things:

  • bird type;
  • target capacity;
  • poultry house dimensions;
  • whether the building already exists;
  • required automation level;
  • feeding and drinking requirements;
  • manure handling;
  • ventilation and environmental control;
  • future expansion plans.

This sounds simple, but it changes the conversation completely.

A buyer planning a new poultry housing system UK project may need layout design and installation support.

Someone replacing a feeding line in an existing broiler house may only need equipment and spare parts.

Once the project is clear, supplier comparison becomes much easier.

Potters Poultry

Potters Poultry is one of the better-known British poultry equipment companies.

The company has worked in poultry equipment for more than 50 years and supplies systems for layers, breeders and pullets.

Its product range includes aviary systems, automatic nests, feeders, drinkers, slats and egg-handling equipment. Potters also manufactures its AVINEST automatic nest systems in the UK.

For buyers considering a cage-free layer system UK project, Potters is one of the suppliers worth looking at.

The reason is not simply the equipment range.

In a barn or aviary house, birds need to move between feeding, drinking, nesting and resting areas. Nest position, lighting, floor space and egg collection all affect how the house works.

If these parts are planned separately, problems often appear after the birds are already inside.

A supplier that understands the full layout can usually spot those issues earlier.

Newquip

Newquip works in a different way.

The company is the mainland UK distributor for Big Dutchman poultry and pig equipment.

So this is not a case where every component is manufactured in Britain. Instead, the model is international equipment combined with UK-based project support, installation and after-sales service.

For many farms, that is perfectly reasonable.

If a feeding motor stops, a sensor fails or a controller needs attention during production, local technical support can matter more than where the original component was produced.

Newquip supplies equipment for broilers and layers, including feeding, drinking, housing, ventilation and automation systems.

For buyers looking for a broiler farm equipment supplier UK, this type of company can be attractive because installation and service are available locally.

Climatec Group

Climatec Group is another type of supplier.

Its work is closely connected with poultry house environment and integrated farm systems.

The company works with ventilation, heating, lighting, feeding, drinking, cooling and control equipment. It also works on both new poultry houses and refurbishment projects.

This becomes important when an older farm starts having environmental problems.

For example, a farmer may notice poor air quality or heat stress and assume the solution is to add more fans.

Sometimes that works.

Sometimes it does not.

The real problem may be inlet position, house pressure, minimum ventilation settings, heating capacity or how the controller operates the whole system.

Adding more equipment without understanding the airflow can make the problem worse.

This is where a system supplier can be more useful than simply buying individual fans from a catalogue.

Collinson

Collinson is different again.

The company is well known for agricultural silos and feed conveying equipment.

Feed storage is not usually the first thing buyers think about when planning a poultry farm, but it can cause practical problems later if it is undersized or badly positioned.

Before selecting a silo, I would want to know:

  • normal daily feed consumption;
  • feed delivery frequency;
  • required reserve capacity;
  • available access for feed trucks;
  • distance between the silo and poultry house.

The feed conveying route also matters.

If the silo is placed in the wrong position at the beginning, correcting that mistake later can be expensive.

Specialist companies such as Collinson therefore often become one part of a larger poultry project, even when another supplier provides the main bird housing equipment.

Manufacturer or Distributor?

Buyers often ask whether a company is a “real manufacturer.”

It is a reasonable question, but I would not stop there.

A manufacturer can have weak local support.

A distributor can sometimes provide very good installation and service.

So I would ask more practical questions.

Who designs the house layout?

Which products are made in your own factory?

Which components come from partner brands?

Who installs the equipment?

Who commissions it?

Which spare parts are kept locally?

And if something stops during production, who is actually responsible for solving the problem?

Those answers normally tell me more than the word “manufacturer” on a company website.

UK Layer Projects Need More Care in 2026

Anyone planning a new UK layer project now also needs to look carefully at housing policy.

Traditional unenriched battery cages have already been prohibited in the UK for many years.

In January 2026, the UK Government also opened a consultation on plans to phase out enriched colony cages.

The proposal included preventing new enriched colony cage systems from entering service from 2027 and phasing out existing systems by 2032.

The consultation closed in March 2026.

At the time of writing, the official UK Government page still presents these measures as proposals rather than final legislation.

That distinction matters.

It would be wrong to tell a buyer that the 2032 phase-out is already final law.

But it would also be risky to ignore the direction of the market when buying equipment expected to operate for another 10 or 15 years.

For a new UK layer project, I would check current welfare regulations, farm assurance standards and egg buyer requirements before choosing the housing system.

That decision should come before asking for a cage quotation.

Can UK Buyers Source Poultry Equipment from China?

Yes.

But I would not reduce the comparison to:

“UK equipment is expensive and Chinese equipment is cheap.”

That does not tell the buyer very much.

For larger projects, Chinese manufacturers can be attractive because of manufacturing capacity, customisation and the ability to supply several systems together.

Guangzhou Guangxing Poultry Equipment Group manufactures poultry farming equipment for commercial projects, including automatic feeding, nipple drinking, manure removal, egg collection, ventilation and environmental control systems.

Guangxing also manufactures A-frame layer cage systems and H-type poultry housing systems for markets where these systems are permitted and suitable.

For a new UK layer farm, however, the first discussion should not be:

“Do you want A-type or H-type cages?”

The first question should be:

What housing system is appropriate for this market and this farm?

That is more important.

For broiler farms, breeder projects, replacement equipment or poultry projects outside the UK owned by British investors, the situation can be very different.

In those projects, direct sourcing from a manufacturer may offer more flexibility in capacity, house layout and automation.

What Should You Send Before Asking for a Quote?

A supplier can only prepare a useful proposal if the project information is reasonably clear.

Before asking for a final quotation, I would send:

  • bird type and capacity;
  • poultry house length and width;
  • farm location;
  • existing house drawings, if available;
  • required automation level;
  • electricity conditions;
  • water supply;
  • photos of the existing building;
  • future expansion plans.

For ventilation projects, local climate conditions and house orientation are also useful.

If every supplier receives the same information, quotations become much easier to compare.

Otherwise, one company may include feeding, drinking, ventilation, controls and installation, while another quotes only the basic equipment.

The second price may look lower, but it is not the same project.

Choosing a Poultry Equipment Supplier in the UK

There is no single supplier that fits every poultry farm.

Potters has strong experience in layer, breeder and cage-free systems.

Newquip combines Big Dutchman equipment with UK-based installation and technical support.

Climatec is strong in ventilation, controls and integrated poultry house systems.

Collinson specialises in feed storage and conveying.

For international projects or larger customised systems, an overseas manufacturer such as Guangxing may also be worth comparing.

The most useful comparison is not who has the longest product catalogue.

It is whether the supplier understands the farm well enough to recommend the right equipment — including when that means telling the buyer that a particular system is not suitable.
