The Hezhang Pingshan Modern Layer Farm Project is located in Pingshan Town, Hezhang County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. It is a key agricultural project developed to promote the large-scale, intensive, and intelligent development of the local layer farming industry. The project was planned as a fully automated layer farm with a capacity of 1 million laying hens, covering approximately 121.86 mu, with a total floor area of about 32,046 square meters.
To meet the automation requirements of a large-scale layer farm, Guangzhou Guangxing provided modern poultry farming equipment and an integrated system solution for the project. The farm is equipped with automatic feeding, automatic drinking, automatic egg collection, automatic manure removal, poultry house ventilation, and intelligent environmental control systems.
These systems are integrated with egg grading, weighing, coding, packaging, and manure recycling facilities, creating a systematic production process covering layer farming, egg transportation, egg processing, and organic fertilizer utilization.

The project was initially invested in and constructed by Guizhou Jinyou Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hezhang County Poverty Alleviation Development and Investment Co., Ltd.
It was planned as a fully automated and intensive layer farm with a capacity of 1 million birds. The project site is surrounded by forested land and located away from densely populated areas, providing suitable conditions for large-scale poultry farming and effective biosecurity isolation.
2. Designed Production Capacity and Benefits
According to project operating data disclosed in 2020, the farm had an actual inventory of approximately 900,000 laying hens, representing about 90% of its planned capacity.
Once fully operational, the project was expected to produce approximately:
- 13,500 tonnes of fresh eggs per year;
- 270 million fresh eggs per year;
- 900,000 spent laying hens per year;
- 16,200 tonnes of organic fertilizer per year.
Through the collection and processing of layer manure into organic fertilizer, the project converts poultry farming waste into agricultural resources. This creates a circular agricultural model integrating layer farming, egg production, manure treatment, and organic fertilizer utilization.
3. Project Results
Following completion, the project established a production model combining large-scale layer farming with ecological and circular agriculture.
The automated farming and egg-handling systems have effectively reduced manual workload while improving egg production efficiency and processing capacity. The project has also supported sustainable income growth for local communities through employment opportunities, profit distribution, and agricultural product sales.
The Pingshan layer farm remains in normal operation, with its products mainly supplied to markets within Guizhou Province and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
